FAST™ RELAYS FOR ALL EFI APPLICATIONS

FAST™ offers relays to cover all applications. Relays are a required item whenever you want to use your XFI™ ECU to control a high current device, such as a fuel pump or nitrous solenoid with one of it’s low current outputs. A relay essentially acts as a high current switch that can be controlled by a low current power source. By using a relay to control your high current, ECU-activated devices, you ensure that your engine controller is safe from damage by high current devices, and that the device gets enough current to perform its intended function.

When choosing a relay, it is very important that the relay current rating (shown in amps) be appropriate to the current requirements of the device that you intend to control with it. For example, if you wish to control two 7.5 amp nitrous solenoids with one relay, you’ll need to run a 20 amp relay in order to appropriately handle the load (2 X 7.5 amps = 15 amps).

Be sure to give yourself a slight margin of safety with the relay ratings; if you are running a 20 amp continuous load, using a 30 amp relay is the best way to ensure that the occasional demand spike that may exceed 20 amps won’t result in relay damage.
